F. David "Dave" Durham

Principal

A 30-year veteran of the residential construction industry, Dave Durham has amassed extensive experience in homebuilding, construction management and residential development. He began his construction career in 1984 holding management positions with both small custom home builders and well-known industry names Centex Homes and John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods.
In 1993 as Division Vice President of Construction, Dave was tasked with launching a new division for John Wieland Homes in Charlotte, NC - an operation which successfully tripled in size in its first three years. He was subsequently named Division President and soon led expansion again, this time to Raleigh, NC where his team earned recognition as the Triangle Builder of the Year. In 1999, Dave relocated to Atlanta to assume the role of Corporate Senior Vice President for John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, overseeing homebuilding operations in eight markets across six southeastern states encompassing more than 250 company members, 730 annual closings and revenues in excess of $376 million. His operations included such notable neighborhoods as Dunes West Golf and River Club, Hamlin Plantation and Daniel Island in Charleston as well as Brookhaven, Ballantyne and Longview Country Club in Charlotte.
Twelve years after his move to Atlanta, Dave returned to Charlotte as Wieland’s North Carolina Division President, serving in an integral leadership role through the transition and sale of the assets of John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, Inc. to a new joint venture between the Wieland family and Wheelock Street Capital, JW Homes, LLC, in 2012. He remained with JW Homes, LLC until 2014. That same year, he partnered with Kevin Popson to create Palm Coast Group, LLC, operating in Charleston
and Charlotte.
Dave served four years in the United States Army as a paratrooper at Fort Bragg, NC and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for combat operations during the invasion of Grenada in 1983. He has successfully completed the examination for the National Commercial Contractor’s License, North Carolina General Contractor’s License and South Carolina Residential Contractor License. In 2003, Dave completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP 164) at Harvard Business School, and he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from North Georgia College. Kevin M. Popson

Principal

An Isle of Palms resident since 1985, Kevin Popson began his real estate career three decades ago with a sales position at Coldwell Banker. After a successful two years with Coldwell Banker, during which time he was named Rookie of the Year and named to the Million Dollar Club, Kevin made the transition to new residential development as a Lot Sales Agent for The Beach Company at Hobcaw Creek Plantation. In addition to lot sales, he was quickly awarded additional roles in land development, architectural review and homeowner association management, and Hobcaw Creek Plantation was awarded the first ever Prism Award for Community of the Year by the Charleston Trident Homebuilders Association in 1988.
Kevin was instrumental in managing award-winning Brickyard Plantation in Mt. Pleasant for Sintra Corporation, overseeing land planning, land development, lot sales, architectural review and homeowner association management. During a decade of new development at Brickyard Plantation, the neighborhood was named Community of the Year five times in addition to earning a number of additional Prism Awards for entrance design, amenity design, model homes and sales volume. In 1998, Sintra Corporation partnered with John Wieland Homes in a joint venture to create Hamlin Plantation. Kevin again took the lead, guiding Hamlin Plantation to $12 million in lot sales in its first year.
In 2002, Kevin joined the John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods team as General Manager of Mt. Pleasant’s sought-after Dunes West Golf and River Club which the company had just acquired. He navigated the Dunes West team through a revitalization of the neighborhood and club that included extensive road and drainage repairs, significant entrance and neighborhood enhancements and construction of a large new clubhouse and swimming pool and remained at Dunes West to manage ongoing development and lot sales, amassing $58 million in lot sales revenue in just three years. In May 2007, Kevin was named Charleston Division President for John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods and maintained consistent success through the homebuilding recession with more than 700 closings and $344 million in revenue during his seven year tenure.
Kevin is licensed as a Broker-in-Charge in South Carolina and a 30-year member of the Charleston Trident Board of Realtors. He is also a member of the Charleston Trident Homebuilders Association, serving four years on its Board of Directors, and was appointed by the Isle of Palms Town Council to serve a four year term on the Isle of Palms Planning Commission.
